Overview

ROHM system power supply ICs are optimized for a variety of CCD applications, including portable devices such mobile phones and other camera-equipped sets.
Conventional sets incorporate CMOS cameras due to their low power consumption. However, they are susceptible to noise in darker environments, making them a poor choice for today's equipment that requires increasingly higher performance.
CCD cameras, on the other hand, provide much greater resolution and lower noise. They are also generally more reliable.

Key Feature 1 : Integrated boost converter and step-down high voltage switching FET improves space efficiency

ROHM's BD6039GU CCD camera system power supply IC integrates a boost DC/DC converter and a step-down MOSFET. Simply connect an external Schottky barrier diode, coil, and capacitor to configure a boost/buck circuit.
(An EMD2-type Schottky barrier diode is recommended in order to minimize mounting area)

Key Feature 2 : Built-in easy-to-use variable output regulator

The BD6029GU and BD6039GU utilize an LDO regulator in the boost DC/DC output block. DC/DC output ripple is eliminated for stable output, and the step-up voltage can be varied, minimizing output loss between the LDO regulators for less heat generation and greater efficiency. In addition, the output voltage can be varied between 3 levels via register settings (I2C bus), ensuring broad compatibility.

Built-in easy-to-use variable output regulator

Key Feature 3 : Low heat generation LDO regulator built in

BD6039GU includes LDO regulators (7ch) in order to supply power to peripheral devices, such as the analog front end and camera ISP. 4 of the channels are designed to provide large load currents to the input power supply terminals of separate systems.
Supplying an external optimized voltage minimizes loss at the output stage and reduces heat generation in the supply circuit.

Key Feature 4 : Internal discharge function improves system stability

BD6029GU and BD6039GU integrate discharge circuits at the output stage of all channels that absorbs charge from the output capacitor, ensuring that the output is at 0V when OFF. This eliminates the need for peripheral circuitry and results in a higher level of reliability.
